Amietta Riesling
Riesling is the wine that most clearly expresses the 'terroir' of the vineyard and quality of the fruit. As people are discovering, our Amietta Vineyard grows exceptional fruit. No two growing seasons are the same, nor are the wines they produce, but the distinctive Amietta style is always apparent. The Amietta Riesling is a crisp, lively and long-flavoured wine which has aromas of minerally lemon and lime, with hints of jasmine and spice (from 5-10% Botrytis). In the mouth, the flavours are true to the nose, intense, mouth filling and persistent. An excellent wine to drink when young, it will also reward cellaring over 5 to 10 years. Riesling is a great wine to drink with seafood, and is also an excellent match for Japanese, Thai or Vietnamese food.
2006 Riesling
A very fine, elegant Riesling with bright aromas of musky honeysuckle, lemon, grapefruit, sweet spices and slatey minerality. In the mouth, these flavours are perfectly balanced on a foundation of quartz-bright natural acidity that carries the wine to a long, elegant finish.
The pure and intense flavours of Amietta Riesling truly show the unique ‘terroir’ of our limestone and clay vineyard soils. The grapes are hand picked, whole-bunch pressed, and the wine made with minimal intervention. Only 11.3% alcohol.

2005 Riesling
The 2005 growing season was amazing and unusual, with mild spring and summer weather and record rain in late January. The yields were kept low (1.8 tonnes/acre) giving very intense flavours and great natural acid levels. The resultant wine has all the Amietta style, but this year it has a touch more natural acid than last year, giving it a bit more minerally backbone that beautifully supports the pure and intense fruit. A stunning wine.
